About the project
The Challenge
The school is in a semi-arid area translating to limited access to water for both pupils and teachers. The tank in the school was not enough to meet their needs and was already leaking. The amount of water available to the pupils was also rationed so that teachers living in the school compound could have some to meet their basic needs. This meant that the pupils had to carry water from home.
The Intervention
Safaricom Foundation, through the Ndoto Zetu initiative, handed over a 10,000 litre water tank and gutters worth KES 200,000.
The Impact
The pupils and teachers have enough water to use. The pupils no longer need to carry water from home.
