About the project

The Challenge

Ogenya Girls Secondary School, situated in Kanjira Location of Nyanza province started in 2001 and has grown its population of enrolled students from 14 to150 since then. The school lacked sufficient revenue to build a dormitory for the girls.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation gave a grant of Kshs. 3 million to alleviate the economic burden of the school. This amount went towards the construction of the girls’ dormitory and purchasing of beds and mattresses.

The Impact

The students now have a conducive learning environment and continue to post encouraging results due to this development.
