TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

Double the Trouble - Twice the Fun because there will always be two points of view.
Marcuz Haile has 4 references for past work as a trainer.
Project worker, Free lance trainer and youth worker.
In 1984 the German group Alphaville sang the still so great song “Forever young”. I guess I’m not so young anymore, but it has been a great ride. It all started out with the “all different – all equal” campaign in 1995. From that on I have been working with different NGOs and as a freelance consultant it has been more than 1500 lectures and seminars concerning racism and xenophobia. There has been the training for trainers and youth workers, about youth and subcultures in Sweden and abroad, a great network and lots of wonderful people. In 2000 I created my own little firm Marcuz Consulting which is still going strong (or shall we say at least exists).
As a part of my legacy I can look back on successful projects as the Youth Parliament, the Living History forum and Exit Sweden. Many great moments and different people, another personal highlight for me was the Master’s Degree in Social Anthropology I received in 2007. In 2011 I embarked on a journey for a second degree, this time my goal was BA in Comparative Religions which also included studies in Islamology and the political aspect of religions, life, particularly family life came in between. Being a family man and a student not too easy to combine but I reached my goal in 2019.
Every year I still try to do one international training course, main topics are still racism, xenophobia and violent extremism. Latest experience was the Visiting at the speed of radicalization Training Course in Brussels May 2018. Training is still a vital part of my everyday life even if I don’t have the same time for international training. It goes both ways, being a participant sometime is also very important; one great moment for me was the UNIQUE RIDE in 2010.
I work with young people daily, used to work as a youth/social worker in a suburb to Stockholm, back to basic that is and where it all really started. Inspiring work indeed being around young people filled with hopes and dreams just like I had. Now my work is with Victim Support Sweden where I work fulltime, mainly my focus areas are diversity & inclusion and specifically hate crime.
So, looking back at it all now, perhaps I’m not that old after all because there is plenty of more that has to be done and working with youth will forever keep one young. If we cannot live forever, at least our hopes and dreams will.
