Aims & objectives

"Home Away from Home - empowering local NGOs to take an active role in the migrants’ integration process" aimed at providing participants first-hand information about immigration in Europe and practical tools that could be used when working with this topic.
This TC was designed to introduce participants to the topic of migrations and the situation in Europe regarding migrants and refugees while sharing with them tools for fighting discrimination and building a more inclusive society.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

25 participants from 6 countries - Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal.
Trainers team was composed of a Portuguese, a Portuguese-Serbian, and a Croatian.

Training methods used & main activities

Workshops, lectures, interactive presentations, learning by doing, discussions hosted by experts on the subject, and other NFE methods.

Outcomes of the activity

Providing participants with theoretical knowledge about refugees’ situation in Europe and
Middle East
- Presenting tools for fighting discrimination and promoting positive values
- Providing participants with a chance of personal contact with people of different cultures,
creating an opportunity for them to make a change in themselves, but also on local and
international level.
- Including local people in our activities and thus creating more understanding and empathic
environment for discriminated groups.
- Giving a chance to refugees for their story to be heard about and including them into
activities of our participants.
- Improving different skills and competencies of participants (communication in foreign
language, cultural expression, social and civic competence, sense of initiative and
entrepreneurship)

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Full-time Trainer responsible for implementing the program with my co-trainers, responsible for sessions, and contact with special guests.

I worked on this training for 10 days as a full time trainer.
