GO PARK Sai Sha, the sports and commercial complex within Sun Hung Kai Properties’ (SHKP) mega integrated development in Sai Sha, celebrated its grand opening today. This complex spans 1.3 million square feet and offers a diverse array of indoor and outdoor facilities for sports, entertainment, dining, and leisure activities.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government Eric Chan, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government Qi Bin, SHKP Chairman and Managing Director Raymond Kwok, Senior Director of Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency Limited Thomas Kwok, SHKP Executive Director Adam Kwok, and SHKP Executive Director Christopher Kwok. Approximately 1,000 guests, including students, teachers, mentors, and mentees from the Strive and Rise Programme gathered to celebrate this landmark addition to Hong Kong.

Raymond Kwok said, “The Sai Sha project is one of SHKP’s largest integrated developments in recent years—a vision that has taken decades to realize. GO PARK is set to become a new landmark for Hong Kong. Our commitment to ‘Building Homes with Heart’ drives us to showcase the stunning landscape surrounding Sai Sha, creating a beautiful backyard for every Hong Kong citizen. This new landmark is designed not only for public enjoyment of sports but also as an ideal gathering place for families, allowing parents and children to spend quality time together, including their pets. Our aim is to enhance the local community while attracting visitors from across Hong Kong.”

To promote sports for all at GO PARK, students from the Strive and Rise Programme were invited to experience the exciting new sport of pickleball during the opening ceremony, alongside Olympic gold medal-winning fencer Vivian Kong. As a strategic partner of the Strive and Rise Programme, SHKP had previously welcomed around 70 mentors and mentees to GO PARK Sai Sha for an engaging day of different sporting games.

Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan said, “I would like to thank SHKP for your unwavering support of the Strive and Rise programme. SHKP has consistently demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility, and today’s event is a true reflection of their belief in ‘Building Homes with Heart.’ We not only see their support for grassroots students but also their passion for fostering a caring and inclusive society. With continued collaboration among government, business, and community sectors, I firmly believe we can create a brighter future for the growth and development of our next generation.”

Adam Kwok said, “GO PARK makes excellent use of the beautiful coastline nearby, as well as the islands and country parks close in Sai Kung, perfectly blending sports, arts, hiking, water activities, retail and tourism into an all-round experience. As the only sports complex in Hong Kong operated by a private entity and open to the public, GO PARK has partnered with over ten sports associations and renowned sports academies to offer various programmes, ranging from beginner classes for the general public to training for the Hong Kong team. This initiative aims to promote sports in the community, support elite athletics and encourage the commercialization of sports. GO PARK also embraces the idea that ‘tourism is everywhere’, establishing itself as a new landmark for the integrated development of sports, culture, and tourism. Beyond sports, the new development features over 40,000 square feet of children’s play facilities, complemented by a diverse range of tenants and restaurants and a pet park. This makes GO PARK well equipped to meet the needs of different families and serve as a new gathering spot for families of all generations.”

SHKP has been a strong supporter of the Strive and Rise Programme. Over the past two consecutive cohorts, more than 200 SHKP employees have volunteered as mentors each year. In addition to mentoring efforts, SHKP has made donations and organized various activities to help participants find their paths. For the new term in 2025, over 200 employees have already signed up to serve as mentors.

The Sun Hung Kai Properties’ (SHKP) Reading Club sponsored over 40 students and teachers from seven Hong Kong secondary schools for a study tour to Shenzhen in November. This initiative, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Publishing Federation and part of Shenzhen Reading Month and the “SZ&HK Co-Reading” programme, combined the exploration of aerospace science with the promotion of reading.

SHKP Executive Director Christopher Kwok stated: “Our country has achieved significant advancements in aerospace technology. The study tour featured a variety of engaging activities that allowed the students to explore our achievements in manned space technology, appreciate Chinese culture, and share the joy of reading with their peers in Shenzhen. Through these activities, we aim to broaden the horizons of young people in Hong Kong and foster their sense of patriotism and national identity.”

The participants started their trip at the Space Science and Technology Institute (Shenzhen), where the teachers and students explored exhibits from a space base, gaining valuable insights into the astronauts’ daily routines and inspiring stories. Founded in 2014, the institute is a non-profit organization to facilitate collaboration between the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and the Astronaut Centre of China.

Next, they visited the “Palace Museum Collections × Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage” exhibition, a highlight of the 25th Shenzhen Reading Month and the “SZ&HK Co-Reading” programme. The exhibition showcased over 10 reproduced paintings from the Palace Museum and nearly 50 art pieces representing Hong Kong intangible cultural heritage (ICH). A selection of books on the national treasures from the Palace Museum and Hong Kong ICH were also on display.

The students also visited the Central Shenzhen Book Mall, the largest such mall on the mainland, where they shared their favourite books with their Shenzhen peers.

Every November since 2000, the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee has organized Shenzhen Reading Month, a large scale reading event that has attracted over 10 million participants. On 2 November 2024, the “Palace Museum Collections × Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage” exhibition opened in Shenzhen, with SHKP as one of the supporting organizations. SHKP will also sponsor the Hong Kong extension of the “SZ&HK Co-Reading” programme, scheduled for April 2025 at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin, as part of the 2025 Hong Kong Reading+ Carnival.

SHKP is committed to promoting reading. In April this year, SHKP supported the 2024 Hong Kong Reading+ Carnival, a four-day event held at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin, aimed at igniting interest in reading among the young generation. It featured a designated zone for selected publications from Shenzhen, fostering cultural exchange between the two cities. Since 2008, SHKP has provided announce allowances to over 1,000 underprivileged young people to buy books at the Hong Kong Book Fair. To date, more than 30,000 young people have benefitted from this initiative.
