In 2023, there were over 14,000 potential organ donors in Brazil, while over 4,000 individuals were effective donors. The number of potential and effective organ donors increased compared to the previous year in the South American country. That same year, the Southeast was the Brazilian region reporting the highest number of effective organ donors in the country.
