Australian rare earths production amounted to an estimated 18,000 metric tons of rare-earth oxide in 2023. Over the past decade, Australia's production of rare earths has seen an overll increase despite some fluctuation. Australia was the world's third-largest rare earths producing country in 2022.

Rare earths include the following elements: cerium (Ce), dysprosium (Dy), erbium (Er), europium (Eu), gadolinium (Gd), holmium (Ho), lanthanum (La), lutetium (Lu), neodymium (Nd), praseodymium (Pr), promethium (Pm), samarium (Sm), scandium (Sc), terbium (Tb), thulium (Tm), ytterbium (Yb), and yttrium (Y).
