The administrative division with the second largest oil production volume was the Volga federal district with over 117 million metric tons. In terms of geographical regions, the Ural federal district is located in the West Siberian region of Russia, which was the leading oil producing region in the country, measuring at nearly 314 million metric tons in 2017.
