During a March 2020 survey of consumers in the United States, 41.7 percent of respondents stated that if confined to their homes during the coronavirus, they were likely to purchase restaurant food delivery online. The food and hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus pandemic as bars and restaurants are forced to shutdown due to health and safety concerns. Many smaller establishments have pivoted to local food delivery services and there have been online initiatives to support local restaurants by buying vouchers or ordering food online.
