Revenue of Parrot 2015-2020

Parrot is a French company based in Paris that designs, develops and markets consumer and high-tech products, including connected objects. Since 2017, it focused on the drone market and quickly became one of the driving forces on the French industry. As of 2020, Parrot’s turnover accounted for more than 57 million euros.

Limited interest among the population

Although this phenomenon is new and promising, the ownership of civilian drones is still marginal among the French population. According to the French, drones’ purpose lies primarily in their collective or professional use and only few of them consider the need to buy one for their own use. Indeed, nearly all of them say that using a drone when assisting in natural disaster relief or carrying a defibrillator to a patient is a good idea.

And a declining regional market

However, the French market seems to have missed the boat for this particular sector in recent years. French people likely to buy a drone were indeed planning to turn to the Chinese manufacturer DJI for the purchase of a possible device before considering buying a French-manufactured UAV. This is confirmed as the turnover of both French manufacturers Parrot and Drone Volt has fallen sharply in recent years.
