The presence of the COVID-19 virus deeply impacted the course of education in the United States in 2021. As of April 2021, about 23.15 million households in the U.S. with children under 18 years old had their children receive online or virtual instruction from a teacher. About 181,300 households had children that could not participate in education due to their school being closed.
