Total energy consumption from natural gas in South Africa 2005-2021
The total primary energy consumption from natural gas in South Africa amounted to 0.2 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) as of 2021, which was almost the same as the previous year. Since 2005, the energy consumption from natural gas fluctuated, reaching its lowest in 2009 at 0.13 quadrillion Btu, while peaking in 2019 and 2021 at 0.2 quadrillion Btu. Moreover, throughout the period under review, energy production from natural gas in the country has been lower than consumption.
