International migrants in East Africa 2000-2020

East Africa hosted approximately 7.7 million international migrants at mid-year 2020. The amount increased by some one million in comparison to 2015. Uganda, Ethiopia, and Kenya were the main destinations for those moving to the region. In general, the number of immigrants living in East Africa has been following an upward trend, increasing from 4.8 million in 2000.
