As of December 2023, a total of around 14.4 million vaccinations for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were administered for the seventh dose. The supply of COVID-19 vaccinations in Japan began on February 2021, mainly for health professionals. On April 2021, the government started the vaccine administration for citizens aged 65 and older.
