In 2020, the average retail price of Chinese patent drugs sold in conventional pharmacies in China almost reached 25 yuan per unit, representing a two percent increase from the previous year. Although the price of Chinese patent drugs increased continuously in the past few years, they remained generally affordable to most patients, with the exceptions of high-end medicines such as Angong Niuhuang Wan and Pien Tze Huang.
