As of October 2022, more than half (52 percent) of adults surveyed in the United States said they felt filled with suspense when watching horror movies. Approximately 37 percent reported feeling thrilled, while 33 percent said they felt anxious. According to another study conducted around that same time, "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" were the favorite horror film franchises in the U.S.
