Non-motorised bicycle imports to the European Union were relatively stable between 2013 and 2020, with import figures varying between 4.7 million units and 5.3 million units. In 2021, imports rose to 5.7 million units, as demand for bicycles increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2023, bicycle imports had dropped to under 3.5 million units, the lowest level in the past ten years.
