The key to achieving net-zero aviation in the European Union is to use sustainable aviation fuel. Therefore, The European Commission has proposed a SAF-blending requirement for fuel supplied to EU airports. This mandate would require 2.3 million metric tons of SAF usage by 2030 and 28.6 million metric tons by 2050.
