In 2022, over 75 million kilometers were covered in free-floating car-sharing vehicles in Italy in 2022. While this was an increase by around a third compared to the previous year, free-floating shared vehicle use remained below its peak in 2019.
In free-floating car-sharing schemes, vehicles do not need to be returned to the same location where they were picked up but can be dropped off anywhere within a usually pre-determined geographic area.
