Global biofuel demand growth share by sector 2010-2030

The road sector has long been almost exclusively responsible for the demand growth of biofuels. Between 2010 and 2023, nearly 99 percent of worldwide biofuel demand growth was generated through road motor vehicles. However, a more widespread adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is expected to result in the aviation sector becoming a significant driver of biofuel demand until the end of the decade.
