The annual revenues of MetLife fluctuated significantly during the period from 2008 to 2023. Their revenues fell after the Great Recession in the late 2000s, but have since recovered and reached a decade-long peak of around 73 billion U.S. dollars in 2014. In 2023, the revenues of MetLife amounted to a value of almost 67 billion U.S. dollars - a slight decrease from the previous year.

MetLife is a New York-based insurance company, which operates domestically as well as in Asia, Latin America and EMEA. The U.S. business segment is consistently the most profitable. In 2021, the revenue generated by premiums written in the United States accounted for over half of their total premium revenues globally.

The return on stockholders’ equity has fluctuated greatly since 2012.
