In 2019, the largest share of investments made by property and casualty (P/C) insurance companies in Canada was as bonds. That year, P/C insurance companies in Canada invested approximately 83.4 billion Canadian dollars as bonds, followed by just over 12 billion Canadian dollars as shares. The top three is completed by investments as mortgages, which amounted to a value of around 1.4 billion Canadian dollars.
