Sales value of salmon for consumption in Norway 2013-2023
Salmon, one of the most farmed animals in Norway, had an increasing sales value in recent years. In the period from 2013 to 2023, it grew to approximately 108 billion Norwegian kroner. Also, the sales volume of salmon for consumption increased strongly over the same years, reaching almost 1.5 million metric tons.
Sales volume in Norway’s counties
In 2018, Trøndlag, a county in the central part of the country, achieved the highest sales volume of slaughtered Atlantic salmon. There, about 321 thousand metric tons were sold. Nordland, Troms, Hordaland and Finnmark followed.
Sales value in Norway’s counties
In the same year, Trøndelage generated also the highest sales value of slaughtered Atlantic salmon as it amounted to almost 16 billion Norwegian kroner. Around 13 billion Norwegian kroner were generated in Nordland county, ahead of Troms, Hordaland and Finnmark.
