Oatly AB, which was founded in 1985 and is based in Malmö, Sweden, reached its highest amount of net sales in 2023 with approximately 3.4 billion Swedish kronor. In this year, the company producing oat drinks and various organic products made a loss of roughly 4.8 billion Swedish kronor.
Organic food in Sweden
Swedes seemed to be interested in buying organic products in 2022. The share of organic products in the total food and non-alcoholic beverages revenue in the retail trade sector in the country was highest for fish, amounting to around 19 percent. Fruit followed closely, ahead of coffee, tea and cocoa. That year, organic dairy products such as milk and cheese had a share of just over seven percent.
Naturli’ Foods
Another noteworthy Scandinavian company operating in the plant-based food products industry is Naturli’ Foods A/S. The Danish producer offers plant-based alternatives to dairy products, meat and health food. Its profit fluctuated in recent years, peaking at roughly 15.6 million Danish kroner in 2019. As of the years that followed, it decreased overall to 7.5 million Danish kroner in 2022.
