The number of Long-Term-Evolution (LTE) subscriptions in Japan amounted to around 118.8 million in 2024. LTE is a standard for wireless broadband communication that was developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), a standards organization founded in 1998. While the number of LTE subscriptions declined for the third year in a row, the number of 5G subscriptions continued to increase strongly.
