Sino Thai Restaurant
Sino Thai is the kind of simple, straightforward Waterloo stalwart spot that you pop into for a curry that will warm you up in double time. The service is quick and practical—tap water is poured, orders are received with a swift nod, and menus are swiped from your table as soon as you’ve uttered the words “yes, the panang curry, please”. And you should get involved in one of the luminous, warming coconut curries, whether it’s a sweet red pineapple number or the creamy, classic penang, as they’re the best things here. The spring rolls tend to arrive molten and lack any satisfying crunch, and while the noodle dish portions may be generous, they’re also a bit congealed and one-note. Still, if you’re rushing for a nearby show or work in the area and are in need of quick-fire curry comfort at lunchtime, join the chatting families on the big round group tables and pad thai enthusiasts dotted about with podcasts for company. It’s a decent back-up option but there are much better spots in the area.

What our ratings mean
It’s fine: 6s can get the job done (depending on the job). There’s a strong 'BUT' or caveat as to why this place is acceptable, but not a first choice.
