SEAReview
Chuck’s Burger Press is a Thursday-to-Sunday smashburger operation located inside Chuck’s Hop Shop at Seward Park, where you can expect phenomenal beer options much like their Central District and Greenwood counterparts. And we love Chuck's Hop Shop—but we can't say the same for these burgers.
The special burger is a single patty with house sauce, pickles, caramelized onions, and american cheese. That’s all just fine, but the burger itself is poorly constructed. The lone patty skews the meat-to-bun ratio. And even though there’s a lovely charred meat skirt, the whole burger is overcooked. The bacon deluxe gets the math right, with two patties, double cheese, and four strips of bacon—and yet, it still ends up dry and chewy. We can, however, get behind the fries, which are great vehicles for scooping delicious ranch and curry aioli into our system.
What our ratings mean
It’s fine: 6s can get the job done (depending on the job). There’s a strong 'BUT' or caveat as to why this place is acceptable, but not a first choice.
