Initially failed to provide my AMD free game promo code

Update 19/10/22:

Caseking have arranged with AMD to provide the codes which I have now received. I have therefore changed the review to 3/5, I am still not as happy a customer as I would have been had this problem not occurred, and I am quite sure that it took the bad publicity here on Trustpilot to motivate caseking to rectify their mistake. The initial replies from caseking customer service amounted to "them's the breaks".

My advice to anyone looking to redeem codes from a GPU purchase or similar from caseking: Chase them repeatedly rather than relying on them to remember to send you the code after their 14 day wait period.

Original review 13/10/22:

I bought an AMD RX 6000 series graphics card in August 2022, with an associated promotion for 3 free games under the AMD 'Raise the game' promotion. I emailed caseking on the day the card was delivered asking for the codes, they told me to wait 14 days and they would send the codes. They didn't send the codes, when I contacted them about this they sent an expired code and I have missed out on the promo. They accepted that they totally failed but cannot do anything to put this right.

This is poor customer service and I would be hesitant to ever use them again.

Dear "Gamer",

Update:

We have received an update from AMD. Please go to https://www.amdrewards.com/support, create a support ticket (do not select any of the FAQ answers but just click "next"). Briefly explain your case once again in the form and indicate all your personal information along with all the required data about your purchase.

AMD has briefed their staff in order to enable the redemption of the voucher code in your case despite the promotion having ended already. Please contact us again if there are any problems.

Original Response:

We already apologised for our mistake and I can only repeat that we are deeply sorry for this. Yet it is simply impossible for us to reactivate these expired voucher codes, since they are provided by the product manufacturer AMD.

We have contacted AMD to find out if they can somehow make an exception, but if that's not possible, we did not fulfil our purchasing contract and the sole legal consequence of that is a right of withdrawal on your part. We already offered to take back the card and reimburse the purchase price in full.

We also already offered to waive the shipping costs as a little gesture of goodwill, however we are unable to compensate you for those game codes in a monetary way and will never be able to do so. There is also no legal basis for that request.

You may also contact me directly via "mike@caseking.de" or in our official support forums:

Perfect choice for building a PC in Ireland

I've built three PCs using CaseKing now and I can't fault them. I haven't found a better place to order parts from to Ireland. Their prices are fair, they have a huge range of items and their website makes it very clear when items out of stock will be back in stock.

Their next day delivery option is expensive but so worth it if you're in a rush. I ordered at 13:37 on Monday, I then received an email at 16:38 the same day saying it had been dispatched, and it arrived on Tuesday at 14:02. I think I missed the cut-off for next day in this case, I expected it to be sent Tuesday and arrive Wednesday but they still managed to get it out the door on Monday. Very impressive.

Safe, good quality, amazing options and delivering from Germany to Ireland.

It was a dream of mine to build my own PC. Finally managed to save up enough to do so. When looking to buy parts for my build the Irish websites are too expensive and after some research I came across Caseking de.
When I read some Trustpilot reviews from Ireland and Google reviews from users in Ireland I realised Caseking deliver to Ireland and are a viable option.
Most of my PC parts were ordered from their website including the NV5 with a lot of glass so I was a bit worried.
Everything arrived within a week. No scratch, nothing broken, everything as described. My PC is build and it all works as it should.
Thank you Caseking you gained a customer for life.
Just a little FYI for Irish customers or customers from different countries: Please log in with your account or add items into cart with country chosen as the prices shown on website include German VAT at 19% but for example Ireland is 23% so the value of the items shown will change depending on the country you are from. It was still cheaper than any Irish website though.
Again Thank you Caseking for delivering such a high level service.

Solved

Something went wrong internally in their systems with a return product which i was initially upset about and the help i received from their support. but their content manager mike wolan solved it beautifully after i posted a negative review, and he is the only reason my review turned to 5 stars, so they should be lucky to have him.

Good till first faulty item

Good till first trouble. I spent over 5k in this shop, but I am out now. I sent faulty RAM (tested before on 3 different computers and when bar was inserted computer had random blue screen crashes - definitely faulty) back to them, and I got it back as full working!!! They are claiming some paragraph 437. So if you do not want warranty problems, avoid.

Edit:

Thanks for answer Mike

So to clarify. I bought matched memory pair. When both sticks were inserted (on default BIOS settings) computer crashed with totally random blue screen errors (once twice a day maybe). When only one stick - working one - was inserted, computer ran without any issues. But when just faulty stick was inserted crashing has somehow become even more intense. I ran memtest86+ from USB stick and no errors were found. Then I transferred faulty stick to other fully working computer with different components about 5 years old and - had same blue screen crashes again. So I was certain about fault before sending back with description of a problem. Now I am solving this issue with manufacturer.

Edit 2
Hello again, Mike

I am using logic here - if one stick of a matched pair is working and other not on a same slot on a same motherboard then is obviously faulty or mismatched to that level that causes problem which is still under warranty for matched pair. As said I tested on two different motherboards generations apart. These RAMs are on compatibility list for both motherboards. There are many such problems described on forums where memory tests do not recognize faulty ram.

Edit 3

So I am unfortunate that one part does not work in any of my motherboards, or maybe lucky that one does and I still can use half of kit. I will present this case to German and EU consumer protection service to get their opinion. I still think that when buying new part, working or not working can not be matter of luck.

Dear "Muto Lay",

Update 3:

If you buy a new RAM kit, you can easily test them and return them within the 14-day withdrawal period. And until 1 year after receipt of goods, the burden of proof for a fault at the moment of the passing of risk also lies with us. Your memory kit is, however, much older.

Update 2:

[Edit: Thank you for finally identifying yourself.]

You purchased the memory kit in question in November 2022 and apparently it worked since then. The burden of proof lies on you. We can even provide counter evidence that your memory kit still works perfectly today:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BL3qq3zCmuzb_XDeJ8U8QJZke0kqoOFU

The memory kit is CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 and it is *not* included in the QVL of any of the motherboards you purchased from us:

"I am using logic here - if one stick of a matched pair is working and other not on a same slot on a same motherboard then is obviously faulty or mismatched"

→ This is not logical. Of course some unsupported memory sticks sometimes work, some don't, no matter their kit combination. Silicon chips are not 100% identical to each other that's why there is a silicon lottery as well as silicon degradation. It depends on many factors, settings, timings, profiles, voltage, the correct slot usage and so on.

"There are many such problems described on forums where memory tests do not recognize faulty ram."

→ The vast majority of such forum posts obviously contains incorrect assumptions and solutions both. Memory that doesn't work stable with certain memory controllers in CPUs/motherboards or settings is not automatically faulty. That's simple logic. And yes, memory test tools are specifically designed to test memory regarding defects.

Update:

What you describe is unfortunately a totally normal occurrence and simply incompatibility with the respective memory controllers of each CPU. Those memory modules are not faulty. That's what is proven by various Memtest tools. Nowadays DDR4 and especially DDR5 RAM are commonly known to be very fickle and sticking to the official QVL of motherboards is becoming necessary. You also have to make sure to use the correct memory slots on the motherboard if you use two sticks. You can't just put them in anywhere. And again, the memory timings and clock settings in the BIOS must be correct. You can check the SPD values with CPU-Z. Your test method of merely testing a stick in a second system doesn't say much when it comes to RAM. You could test perfectly working memory modules on unsupported boards or with incorrect settings all day and they'd still not be faulty. The fact that only one stick worked is more evidence to that since the CPU's memory controller doesn't have as much to do with just one module. The supported clock rates with two modules are also always lower than with only one stick.

Original Response:

What is your customer or order number? Please contact me via email at "mike@caseking.de" or in our official support forums so that I can check your case. Supposedly defective memory modules can be easily verified as faulty with Memtest and similar tools. Your memory modules were apparently proven to be functional.

Many customers forget to activate the proper memory profiles like XMP or EXPO for their respective RAM modules in the BIOS which is often the actual cause for instability. Apart from that, overclocked memory is not compatible with every motherboard/chipset or memory controller/CPU.

Fast, nice and fair

I bought some components for my new gaming pc a little bit more than a year ago (April 2021) because they had everything I wanted in stock and offered fair prices. About a year later (February 2022) the AIO didn't work properly anymore. The support was nice and they offered me to send it back to them, they check it and if it is really broken they will repair it or replace it. Not even a week after I send them the AIO, I got a new one without any problems. Fast, nice, and fair support.

Thumbs up.

Products were shipped almost instantly and everything working great. Small misunderstanding with the delivery company, as they didn't have my phone number in their system for some reason, but that was sorted out quickly.

Great customer service!

Purchased my Gigabyte monitor from them to be delivered to Bulgaria. It arrived in 3 days or so and I have only positive things to say about the whole process and the communications with them.

A few months after getting the monitor I thought that it was a defect unit as it wouldnt connect to either my work laptop or pc, using different ports and hdmi cables in the end this turned out to be a Windows problem.
In any case I notified them the same day and got all the info that I needed for the RMA process and they arranged for DHL shipping and everything.
In the end I fixed the issue by replacing the gpu drivers and told them about my experience. The the customer service employee with whom I have communicated the issue contacted me back with a list of things to do and check after gpu driver replacement to make sure that everything was done properly.Cedric Schramm (the cs person) and
CaseKing made a lasting impression for me by being incredibly responsive willing to walk the extra mile when they could just cancel the RMA and not even reply back.

A very good experience

A very good experience, the only thing causing a slight worry is that the delivery company they sent my order with was different than what I chose on the checkout. however, the delivery was on time and the components arrived in good order. :) I wholly recommend to anyone.

First to take your money, not so fast to deliver the product

Extreme dissapointment!!!

I have placed the order on the website for a MSI 4080 Super Suprim, card was showing in stock and immediately available upon ordering.
I have placed the order, the confirmation email came, few minutes after I received an email that my order is now being processed.
30 minutes later I receive an email that the product I ordered is no longer available and that there is no ETA and it can takes months until the product comes available, I have sent an email to the CS to request the clarification and received email Back from Customer Support that pretty much repeated the previous automated email, no compassion no sorry nothing, no response as to why they would take my money for a product they do not have, no any kind of response to my questions regarding the order!

If a company that big cannot manage their stock nor are capable of doing their job correctly, they should let us know upon ordering, now over 1300euro are bound and I cannot go to a shop that actually has the availability, and due to caseking I most likely will miss getting a new 4080s card!!!

Extremely unhappy both with their online stock management and their extremely poor customer service team.

Update as of 1/02/24 They have cancelled my order but said that cannot issue the refund immediately.
They are just making sure that I will miss any possible available 4080 super, only because I left negative review.
***Funds refunded after opening a case with PayPal

Take your money elsewhere and don't waste your time with Caseking.de as if you decide to leave them a negative feedback they will hold your money for as long as the can.

Dear Demis Mykonos,

The GeForce 4080 Super was - as you surely know - launched as a product exactly at 15:00 on that day. Unfortunately a lot of people tried to order one of the very few cards we had in stock at the same point in time which our servers simply cannot handle quickly enough. This cannot be prevented since it's unreasonable to maintain massive overcapacities at high costs only to guarantee that extremely rare and short load peaks can be handled. Your payment was therefore registered by our ERP system at exactly 15:39 at which point all stock was already gone.

We are sorry about that and I also want to apologise for the initially sub-par communication of that issue on our part. Your order has been cancelled as requested and the only reason the refund couldn't be issued immediately was due to the fact that you (unnecessarily) opened a PayPal conflict in your frustration which freezes the amount (in our system) and prevents us from refunding it until the conflict is first resolved. This disrupts the usual refunding process and an employee must first resolve the PayPal case which takes a bit longer.

I was the one requesting your customer data via Trustpilot outside of the usual working hours of our support staff yesterday in the evening since you didn't give your true name here and therefore I was unable to find your order at first. After you've provided your order number, the order cancellation would've been processed today by our customer support during their working hours in any case even without all the drama and the PayPal case.

Kind Regards,
Mike

Swift reply for a change in order

After my purchase, I realized that one of the product in the list didn't have the reference I expect (probably didn't update my cart accordingly).
Contacted the customer service to request the change and all was done seemlessly in under 1 hour by email.

PC Parts to Ireland, Highly recommended!

I highly recommend this company!

I ordered multiple PC Parts from CaseKing. Those being:

- A Mid Tower PC Case
- Case fans
- CPU Cooler
- PSU

The purchasing process was very simple and streamlined. Their website has a wide variety of options and was very intuitive to browse.

There were no hidden fee's at checkout, VAT and shipping were shown for each product very clearly.
Products weren't overpriced and were actually quite competitive.

Delivery options were neither minimal nor excessive. I personally went for Basic UPS Shipping to Ireland. One complaint, I did not get any tracking options in my email automatically, however I was able to get the tracking numbers immediately when they were available by going through the support bot which was fine by me. I believe locally they have even more options for delivery.

My products arrived within 5-6 Business Days, so basically after one full week. This shipping was actually faster than Amazon DE from where I had ordered other parts even with Amazon Prime. They arrived later in that week and some even the week after which in total took them 2 weeks. So much for Amazon's speedy delivery they pride themselves on.

In the boxes they threw in the invoice/receipt and even complementary German Candy which was thoughtful. There was no exterior damage to any of the products as far as I can tell, they were boxed well. However I have yet to open the actual boxes and check inside for any damage but I doubt I will find any.

I personally had no reason to contact their customer support but I have heard great things in other reviews.

Overall great experience. No need for any skepticism here, Will definitely shop on the site again and recommend it to all.

Dear random dude from valorant,

(You have indicated a publicly visible e-mail address which you should remove immediately for your own good and it might also violate the Trustpilot rules. I cannot proactively send you an e-mail which is why I'm responding here.)

On topic:

You can set our shop page to English and just put any system into the shopping cart where you can select Slovenia as the destination country. However, the product descriptions are mostly only available in German. The shipping speed itself varies depending on the parcel company selected/available which in turn also depends on the size and weight of an order. DHL, for example, do not even state a general transit duration to Slovenia at all so I would guesstimate 1-3 weeks. Some systems even require being dispatched via freight forwarding which will take much longer than driving the mere distance in a car because of the logistics involved.

If you prefer a build-to-order (BTO) system you can always send us an e-mail to "systems@caseking.de" and name your budget and desired components. Please give us 2-3 business days to respond with an offer. We offer pre-built "Express" systems and configurable systems which are not pre-built. Let me give you a rundown of our build times and delivery times:

1. Express Systems:

- Pre-built and ready to ship
- Picking and packaging starts once the payment has been fully booked
- Dispatch within 1-4 business days (Mo - Fr) if shown as "All parts in stock"
- If an operating system is added, installation & setup will delay shipping by 1-4 business days

2. Configurable Systems & Configurators:

- Need to be assembled by hand after being ordered
- Build process starts once all components are in stock *and* the payment has been booked
- Build process, setup and testing takes at least(!) 10 business days for air and AiO watercooled systems (no estimates for custom-watercooled systems can be given, it depends on too many factors)
- Packaging will also take 1-4 business days depending on the size of the system.
- Shipping times depend on the transport company

BUT:
There is an express build option for some systems which decrease build time to 4-5 business days and there is express shipping (which will be very expensive to Slovenia unfortunately) which also speeds up delivery by an unknown amount of time.

So all in all our systems will not arrive fast, but they'll be powerful hand-built gaming systems. If you've got any specific questions you can also reach me directly via "mike@caseking.de". I can also update you on the progress of a systems order if you've placed one.

Update: If you consider picking up a system yourself in Germany, you can of course do so as soon as a system is ready. However, we currently disabled the pickup option for our Berlin store in our online shop system for reasons that had to do with the Covid pandemic, which is why we would have to arrange this for you in advance. Contact me if you consider this as an option.

Kind Regards
Mike

Unprofessional customer service

I bought 2 lian li extension cables for my motherboard and my gpu. After installing both cables my screen started blacking out for acouple of second every 10-15 minutes. I deinstalled and plug the original cables back and the problem was gone. So I sent the cables back to caseking because they sent me defect products and put my custom build pc at risk and asked for a refund because I did not want to reinstall the cables to be precautious. The system might fail due to this cable. What they did was just repairing and sending it back. When I called them and said that I cant put my system at risk because custom build are pretty fragile, they told me to sell them online??

I would not recommend buying from this website they r pretty unprofessional.

Update: Precautious means in this case saving my pc from a system or component failure. Deinstalling the extension cables remedied the problem and I did not confront this problem before installing the extension cables makes them the root cause of the problem. I currently do not have black screens anymore.

Custom pc builds are quite fragile, so an optional component turns out be defective, it must be pretty obvious to not to use it again isnt it?

Thank you for explanining the law to me but suggesting selling the items online is ridiculous customer service behaviour and no customer would take it well?? In addition to that blaming the customer for their unsatisfactory shopping experience is an act of unprofessionalism. Yes it was my first purchase and will be the last thanks to your poor customer service.. Use the bad reviews to satisfy your customers and improve your service, not to attack your customer. As we can see also from the other bad review, you prefer to attack them.

Update 2: You can just keep denying the fault of component you sold, but its the reality. If an optional component such as rgb extension cable causes problems, you wont consider installing it again. For your information the extension cables are just for visuals and do not replace actual power cables! You would understand me if you ever build a pc yourself. And yes every custom build pc is unique for their owner.

Dear "Doruk Şerbetçioğlu",

Update 2:

"Custom pc builds are quite fragile, so an optional component turns out be defective, it must be pretty obvious to not to use it again isnt it?"

→ What is this even supposed to mean? Every Gaming PC in the world is a "custom build" and riser cables exist, because they're working. They are being used everywhere. Your system is not special in any way. And why would you assume that just because one or two riser cables you've purchased might have been faulty, every other riser cable in the world must be faulty too? It doesn't make any sense. Also, compatibility issues are not part of the material defects liability.

"Thank you for explanining the law to me but suggesting selling the items online is ridiculous customer service behaviour and no customer would take it well??"

→ No, why would it be ridiculous? You do not have a right to withdraw any more and that's what you've been told. Every other online shop would tell you the same. You've been informed about your 14-day right to withdraw at the moment of purchase and afterwards via e-mail. We've replaced your items out of goodwill and they're probably not even actually faulty.

Update:

Thank you for identifying yourself. It is as I suspected, it took you almost a month to initiate an RMA, which means that you're no longer entitled to a refund, only to replacements/repairs, since the 14-day withdrawal period has ended. Please check §§434 ff. of the German Civil Code to learn more about your rights: Pursuant to § 439 (Section 1) of the German Civil Code (BGB), the handling of claims can only be provided in the form of a new delivery or by remedying the defect (repair), whereby we may also reject a method selected by the customer pursuant to § 439 (Section 4) of the German Civil Code (BGB) due to disproportionately high costs. As a mere retailer, it is not possible and not reasonable for us to maintain or repair highly complex technical products (PC hardware) that we have only sold and not manufactured ourselves.

According to § 440 of the German Civil Code (BGB), a withdrawal from purchase - as requested by you - is in principle only possible after two failed attempts of supplementary performance, which is not the case here since we've immediately replaced your cables. In the case of such a theoretical 'final withdrawal' from the purchase, any benefits derived from the use of the goods would also have to be returned according to § 346 BGB and § 347 BGB. This approach was confirmed by a ruling of the Federal Supreme Court on 16 September 2009 (VIII ZR 243/08). The resulting current value credit is calculated over the age of the product using the German Federal Ministry of Finance's AfA tables for tax deductions and is thus specifically determined. In the case of PC hardware, this corresponds to ~3% of the purchase amount per month.

We have also explained it to you before and that's exactly the opposite of "unprofessional". You're just giving us a negative review because you cannot accept the legal situation and the fact that we've decided against an act of goodwill since you've never even purchased anything from us ever before.

Original response:

I cannot find this name in our customer database. Please contact me via "mike@caseking.de" or react to the Trustpilot identification request.

In general, there is no right to receive a refund outside of the withdrawal period, which is why defective products are always replaced according to the material defects liability. It should be rather obvious that riser cables do work which is why they exist and thus a generalised refusal to use them at all as a "precaution" doesn't make any sense. Also, PCIe signal interferences can be caused by PCIe slots on the motherboard or connectors on the GPU as well and are unfortunately not uncommon, which doesn't mean the riser cable itself is faulty.

Kind Regards
Mike

Horrible experience with international order

Horrible experience with international order.

I sent in an order on the 3rd of October. It's international, but still within EU space, so I figured - maybe 3-4 days of delay compared to a local purchase? Yeah, buckle up.

I got same-day shipping (offered at checkout) because it was for my nephew's birthday and I hoped it would make it faster. Same-day shipping was ignored - I would come to find out via several calls to caseking that the option is only for clients in Germany - why would you allow it for someone outside Germany then?

The same-day shipping option was with UPS Express, so I checked it also for another reason - UPS would surely have a tracking number. I wanted to keep track of the shipment because in a few weeks I'd be unavailable, and in case it turned out to have delays - I could have it delivered to a friend, or at least rescheduled. I'd have some semblance of control over what happens to it.

This option that I checked and paid for was ignored. The package was sent via some other courier, that they couldn't provide a tracking number for. It's apparently their own trucks or something? I have no idea, but I was assured it's more expensive and safer than UPS Express. As if just because it's more expensive and safer, that means I should shut up and take it, despite wanting something else? And despite no tracking number?

Fact is, this is why I ordered via UPS. I trust UPS. I don't trust their internal trucks. Which I'd find out - I was right not to.

The order was only shipped on the 11th. 8 days after the 'same-day' shipping I paid extra for.

It is now the 18th of October and I just had my last call with customer service. They had contacted me via mail to request some identification number. I expressed I don't know what that is. They gave me some link explaining that shipments that come into the country need to be declared, and they didn't declare it, so they didn't get the number. My shipment HAS NOT YET ENTERED THE COUNTRY AFTER 2 WEEKS. May I take this point in time to make it apparent that a trip via car from my home city to Berlin would take 17 hours - hardly worth waiting 2 weeks for a package.

Considering how they've been constantly disregarding my options, and how they are now requesting me for information that I as a customer cannot possibly give them and it is in the responsibility of their freighter - I requested a cancellation. At this point I don't trust them, so I am also considering contacting my bank and disputing the charge.

Caseking has no idea what they're doing with regard to international shipping. Their website allows you to select (and pay for) options they don't actually offer. Their shipping company doesn't do their job, and then the customer is asked to do it. Their poor customer support people had to take several calls from me to know the status of the package (which would've been avoided if I had a tracking number) and couldn't help with any of my requests, which - I get that their hands are tied, but then just call it /dev/null, not customer service line.

I don't recommend. But I do look forward to Mike (who I saw was quite active around here) coming in with a reply about how he doesn't think it's unreasonable to ask customers how shipping works, or how tracking numbers are for the birds, or how my choices at checkout are just for curiosity and they'll actually be doing whatever they want to my order.

Dear Dragos Zaharescu,

Update: We are refunding the order amount already right now to your payment method.

Original Response:

We are a German company and therefore ship from Germany.

The Romanian Ministry of Finance has decided to implement the RO e-Transport system as of 1 July 2022. RO e-Transport is an electronic system that is used to monitor road transport of goods in Romania. Since 2024, the Romanian authorities decided to extend the law to all types of goods from EU countries, including Gaming PCs. Parcels weighing more than 500 kg or - as is the case with your order - with a goods value of more than ~2000€ (10,000 lei) from and to Romania are subject to declaration and require a UIT code accordingly.

The Romanian ordering party = recipient of goods must apply for a UIT number (meaning you as the customer). The UIT code is a 16-digit combination of letters and numbers. It is assigned when shipments are registered in the Romanian e-Transport system and must be printed on the transport documents during transport within, from and to Romania. The UIT number must be available before the start of transport in Romania and can be applied for a maximum of three calendar days before transport.

That being said, we initially had problems shipping such a large parcel containing a gaming PC in a transport box that's small enough to still count as a regular parcel instead of freight. This is why you were able to order via UPS Express, but we simply could not ship this item internationally with a standard shipping company. Instead, the order had to be switched to shipping via a freight forwarding company (for free, since this costs 6x as much).

All of this resulted in a delay of shipping which is why were were not even remotely able to perform "same day shipping" in this special situation. It is also absolutely normal and common that freight hauling companies do not provide tracking numbers. This is not how hauling works. The so called Avis, meaning the announcement of the delivery done by logistics companies, is then usually done via phone after a few days of international transportation via truck.

We acknowledge that all of this seems to be too complicated to make much sense for private customers and thus we have now requested the parcel to be returned to us. As soon as it arrives and is booked into our system again we will issue a refund via the original payment method.

We learned from this and should be able to actually send out this and similarly large systems via UPS from now on, even if that's too late in your case. I must also apologise for our our recently relaunched new shop software not yet functioning as it should when it comes to international orders and there is nothing to sugarcoat in that regard. We are sorry about that!

Kind Regards
Mike
