Landlord providing a reference

Was asked today to provide a reference for a tenant. Nothing unusual about that, get these requests all the time.

Clicked on the link, and it took me to a "bot" that asked me to sign their terms and conditions..... Why should I have to read 5 Pages of terms and conditions to provide a reference. I havent the time or inclination to do this, and shows a total lack of respect for the people who are responding to them, which will lead to their customers getting honest feedback.

Result is that a good tenant is now not getting a reference ( I have highlighted to the tenant to pick up with them as to the reason I have done this)

What a stupid system..... Clowns at work.

Frustrating, and intrusive

As a guarantor unbelievable levels of intrusive data required. Frustrating 24 hours. I thought I’d jumped through all the hoops, only to receive yet another email saying I needed to upload more data. That’s on top of the frustration of not being able to sign because I hadn’t ‘read’ the t&c - despite having read them. The solution I found was to do it on a laptop so you can visible close the tab once read. Can’t seem to replicate that on an iPhone.
Final hurdles jumped, and after 8 emails from goodlord I’ve been verified (I think). However, with no level of assurance on data protection I’m now inclined to change all my bank account details!

Awful experience very intrusive wanting…

Awful experience very intrusive wanting details of my national insurance number -No! wanting access to my bank account to see what goes in and out - Hell No! passport details, upload selfies details of employer and email addresses payroll number- Hell no! the amount of intrusive information is frightening and for those that have shared it all I would be closing your bank accounts and changing your details!! This process seriously needs to be looked at as it is leaving people financially vulnerable. Shame on you Good lord - Shocking experience!! My child will not be renting with you. Disappointing is not the word.

Great service.

Very easy. Quick answer. All sorted in minutes. Very friendly person (Heather) at other end.

Goodlord are simply terrible

Goodlord are simply terrible. I don't believe half the 5-star reviews which look very samey.

I agree with others that unduly intrusive questions are asked. For instance needing to see the reverse of a driving licence. What vehicles i drive has no relevance to how much money is in my bank. their overreach is incredible. and also their arrogance in not even understanding that they are overreaching (see responses from staff)

they then send emails giving an email address to reply to which doesn't exist. there is no element of their portal which allows resolution of queries for guarantors.

plainly there are no real people dealing with anything so anything other than a perfect reply to answer the bot will drive you to frustruation and waste a whole lot of your precious time whilst they put zero time into it.

i have no good word to say for this experience of being a guarantor via the Goodlord experience. really this should be a zero star review.

Pressured into buying a product I didn't want...

Goodlord have been fine for registering my tenancy.
However....
Despite showing no interest in it, I was sold home insurance by them, despite repeatedly saying I wanted time to think about whether I wanted to buy it. They refused to let me not go ahead with the insurance, which made me feel obligated to pass on my bank details over the phone.
I cancelled the policy as soon as I could, upon finding out that they'd signed me up with a very untrusted insurer. Don't make the mistakes I did - as soon as they tell you about home insurance, just hang up!

IF YOU SEE GOODLORD ANYWHERE RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!

If I could rate them less than 1, I absolutely would. My first issue was dealing with the bot and their overly rigorous question-answering process. They also requested an excessive amount of sensitive information, which left me feeling unsafe and concerned for my privacy. After confirming with my employer and former letting agent that they had completed the reference form, Goodlord claimed there was an inconsistency in their responses and denied me the apartment. Keep in mind, my previous apartment was referenced by Goodlord, and I’ve been paying rent through them without issues.

Despite this, they refuse to provide me or my prospective letting agent with a report detailing what the inconsistency was. I believe this is a deceptive tactic, as I can’t even get a refund of my deposit.

Awful Experience

Where do I start on how utterly rubbish the guarantor "Bot" is. Very intrusive, wants access to your bank account or HMRC account. You cannot go back or change any details and you just go round in circles for way too long. You cannot talk to anyone where the problem would be sorted in minutes, you are tied in to using chat. I have wasted more time trying to get in touch and they want all of your information every time. It does not take into consideration that the make up of a persons income may not be the norm. There are so many things wrong with this. I am security conscious and this whole experience frightens me as to the level of knowledge they have of a person.

I paid a deposit through this terrible…

I paid a deposit through this terrible service over 10 days ago. The oyster group Stanmore withdrew the application and both these companies have held I. To my deposit to date. Despite pleas as we need the monies for property acquired. Nobody is responding to my enquiry. A lady called Kate at oyster has completely ignored messages

I'm an accountant providing a tenancy…

I'm an accountant providing a tenancy reference on behalf of a long standing client. I've been emailed 3 times in 18 hours with the same request! There's simply no need to have that level of chasing when dealing with a professional firm!

Absolutely horrendous platform

Absolutely horrendous platform. Just a total ‘computer says no’ situation if one element has nuance or doesn’t exactly match. You also can’t easily speak to someone on the phone without generating a code and then when you do they’re just condescending and rude.

Cant upload information and no contact phone number for help

I was sent a link to upload my detais as a gurantor for my daughter's rent and as properties go quickly I wanted to this as quickly as possible - this wasn't possible through the "Goodlord" link!
I took time to upload my ID and complete all the information but the automatic software said it was "unable to upload my income information" and I was trapped in an endless loop of trying and trying and being given the same message.
How is this professional or helpful when I can't get hold of anyone and the automatic help desk message says "Thank you for contacting us. We have received your submission and will respond to you within working days" ....is that 1, 2, 3, 555 days - GOOD LORD!!! What a great name for such a shambolic process!!!!

This company is a horror to deal with

This company is a horror to deal with. Please ask your agent if they are using them before paying the holding deposit. If they are, please run. It's been a pain trying to reference a property with them. Their system is overly complicated and intrusive.

They make it almost impossible to speak with a person. Rather, they will subject you to a convoluted, bot-run referencing process that will sap the life out of you.

So simple

Spoke to Ryan, who was absolutely amazing. He was so friendly and maybe the experience so easy and as someone who has never had to deal with insurance before it was an amazing first experience.
