Backsplash installation
The process to getting this job done was unnecessarily stressful and upsetting and I will honestly try not to have to deal with Parkland ever again. I believe the initial installer did not have the expertise that was required to do an acceptable job and Parkland made no effort to ensure, by coming to visually evaluate, that he was competent and that the job was getting done as it should have been done(apparently we were the first job for this installer after getting hired by Parkland). Unfortunately, as the installer was running out of tiles, long before the job was complete, he tried to patch the tiles together and ended up with a pattern that was not random and ended up with bunching of the same color and size of tiles, which looked very bad. I have to wonder if the sales manager of Parkland, who initially measured our kitchen and ordered the tiles in, made a mistake or measured incorrectly?? As a manager, one would expect that he has the expertise to do his job. Also, I felt I was given the run around when I called to speak to this sales manager. I was initially told, after waiting for several minutes, that he was busy with a client, so I hung up and within a few short minutes called back again and again after a few minutes was told he had left for the afternoon. I subsequently found out that he indeed was In the office all day. Good customer relations should have included a call from the sales manager, whom we were dealing with, to, at the very least, apologize for the mess, so my advice to him is, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I felt all Parkland was worried about was getting paid for the job, regardless of whether the work was acceptable or not. as before the job was anywhere from complete Parkland called to tell me they were proceeding with the final payment! We were told the installer was coming back, first thing the morning to complete the installation, however, finally after several calls back and forth, by late afternoon we were told the installer had quit and another installer would be coming the next day. This job should have taken 2 days to complete, but ended up taking a week and ultimately required the second installer to come and remove/replace some of the tiles, correct the pattern messes, replace the tile edging and grout. Seems to me that good business sense would require competent people representing your company.
I have to commend the Coordinator who tried very hard to make things right. He was a very calm fellow who worked hard to do his job and was a great representative for Parkland. Some should follow his example.
