I have been very lucky with this…

I have been very lucky with this insurance company. Over the years no trouble at all. Now after a bad car crash, my car was a total right off. Due to no fault of my own. I was badly hit in face and chest. As my airbags did not go off. The insurance have guided me, all being kind and helpful. Through the complex routine. Many thanks to All.

Unreliable and Unresponsive—Topdanmark Will Avoid Paying When You Need Them Most

0 stars. We’ve paid Topdanmark diligently every month, yet when our basement flooded due to heavy rains, they refused to cover the damage, claiming it was due to river overflow—not rain. This is a clear excuse to avoid paying us, ignoring the fact that the river would never overflow without heavy rain/cloudburst. Despite multiple emails, we’ve received no response. It’s frustrating to see our hard-earned money funding policies they won’t honour when needed. Avoid Topdanmark; their lack of accountability and customer care is truly disappointing. And now as a response, they will ask that we mail them, and then they don't response. wow. How predictable and pathetic.

Hi Ruchi,

The insurance does not cover water damage when it comes from a flooded stream as in your case.
When you first contacted us we sent you an e-mail regarding you have to report the damage to Naturskaderådet.
Afterwards you contacted us about the same damage again, and we answered your mails on October 15th and 23rd. The conclusion is still that you need to report the damage to Naturskaderådet, because it is not covered by your own insurance.
We have received your mail from yesterday and we will look into it as soon as possible.

A Solid Insurance Policy, but Communication Could Be Better

I recently purchased indbo insurance with TopDanmark to cover my expensive bike. Initially, I was reassured by their attentiveness and responsiveness when signing up.

After my bike was stolen and I submitted a claim, the process took longer than expected. While they state a response time of 3 working days, it took much longer to get any updates and finally got it processed after 7 working days. I called several times and experienced a range of responses—from being told they were “very busy” with no clear timeline, to some agents continuing to speak in Danish despite my efforts to communicate in English. At one point, I was even hung up on.

That said, they eventually paid out my claim and covered everything according to my policy, which I appreciate. If they had improved their communication and/or provided a quicker processing, it would have been a much smoother experience.

Good Casco case fulfillment

I have a CASCO with TopDanmark for my motorcycle.

They have held their end of the bargain in a theft-and-found case, supporting the repairs.

It wasn't automatic, though. I still had to document and ask for several details during this process; maybe a 4*? But overall, looking back, 5*. :)

Meget ståhej for ingenting / Much ado about nothing

Jeg bad om et tilbud på en ejerskifteforsikring og blev hurtigt kontaktet, hvilket var positivt. Jeg fik besøg af en agent, som dog primært forsøgte at sælge mig en indboforsikring i stedet. Til trods for den tid, jeg brugte, modtog jeg aldrig det ønskede tilbud på ejerskifteforsikringen.
Samlet set en spild af tid. Jeg ville normalt give 2 stjerner, men på grund af den hurtige respons og høflige interaktioner er det værd at give en ekstra stjerne.

I asked for a quote on change of ownership insurance and was quickly contacted, which was positive. I was visited by an agent who, however, mainly tried to sell me contents insurance instead. Despite the time I spent, I never received the desired quote for the change of ownership insurance.
Overall a waste of time. I would normally give 2 stars, but because of the quick response and polite interactions, I believe it is worth giving an extra star.

Proper Customer Service

I always have a good experience with Top Danmark and that's why I have been there for many years. Maybe I am old school but customer service is still a thing for me and they do that very well.

All my insurance coverages were explained to me so I could fully understand. The person I spoke to could speak perfect English, which I so appreciated. Thank you so much! He was professional, understanding, kind, and to the point!

Good prices, fair support

Good company, I trust them a lot. They're always quick to handle my queries and keep me up to date with everything. They also explain things really well and there's no judgement when asking questions etc.

It is kind of a pain to get through to them and you're not able to buy insurance online - especially with the 500kr gift card advertised if you do it online.. Seems a little suspicious to me, don't advertise something if it doesn't work/has bugs etc. They also don't tell you who is speaking on the phone, a minor thing but knowing who I'm speaking to is nicer than "someone from Topdanmark" That's why it's not a 5.

Other than that, good prices, good service.

After 4 years they refused to pay for Very serious injury and also for car repairs.

I am shocked by Topdanmark's…

I am shocked by Topdanmark's untrustworthy and deceptive approach to insurance. During my trip to Thailand and Vietnam, I was defrauded by an airline and lost my flexible ticket – exactly the kind of situation my travel insurance was supposed to cover, according to their own promise of "all unexpected and unpredictable obstacles." But when I needed help, Topdanmark began rephrasing and paraphrasing their terms. It felt like hidden, American-style clauses and blatant excuses to avoid covering their customers. This should be illegal in the EU!

Topdanmark turned out to be a complete scam – they sell false security, promise coverage they can’t stand behind, and leave their customers stranded when it truly matters. And as if that wasn't bad enough, when I urgently needed medication in Vietnam, their only "help" was to ask me to call a Danish number and pay 300 kr. for the call. Absolutely absurd, especially when one would expect a modern, cost-free solution.

Topdanmark is a farce of an insurance company. They deserve to be shut down and held accountable in court. I can't warn enough against using them as an insurance provider – they offer an illusion of insurance with no real value. Save yourself the hassle, frustration, and money: switch insurance companies immediately!

They should change their name to "Top Scam!" Given that they are partnered with my bank, Nordea Bank, I am now also planning to switch to another bank.

Btw. Looking through the positive reviews here, versus the local dk.trustpilot reviews of this company. It is clear how many fake positive reviews they're posting about themselves. Imagine being such a huge company operating with such low standards, that you have to fake your own reviews to increase your average ratings. The management have clearly no idea how to run a productive company, and are no better than the poor scammers who sits in an office in some third world country. How they sleep a night puzzles me..they should hang their heads in shame..Zero stars if I could!

Professional and knowledgeable

I needed to talk to multiple departments and everyone was really knowledgeable and helpful and solved my problem in no time. I think it was one of the best experiences with customer service.

The only downside was reaching out because the website is in Danish and it cannot be translated to be able to fill in the claim there, when calling the robot you are asked to speak in Danish and when booking meetings I was always called earlier than scheduled and it overlapped with my work meetings.

Consistently Excellent

I have had only excellent experiences with the service agents at Topdanmark.

I had a short request today to discuss, but instead ended up speaking with Frederick for ~35 minutes on that and other important topics and suggestions. He provided me not only with respectful advice and a swift conclusion on my original query, but rolled this naturally into further advice and questions about my other coverage. I made further adjustments based on these, and also now have some further reflections to make on additional cover and requirements.

Most importantly, this interaction was friendly and open, and well humoured. These are super important traits and attitudes for someone representing an insurer; which is ultimately there to help with life's tough times and moments. I have had this same experience with several service agents since setting up my Policy.

Talk about building trust and confidence. I recommend Topdanmark at every opportunity to do so.
