Overall Satisfaction with Airtable

Tracking tasks for software development is my primary use, but the company also uses it to track inventory of computers and software, new hire status, from interview to termination. We've also used it for project management and project budgeting. We started out with a few small use cases but grew to be more dependent on Airtable as we became more familiar with its value. Now, we rely on its integration and use it like second nature.

Pros

  • Integrate with 3rd party applications.
  • External data entry via forms.
  • Tracking tasks across small to large team sizes.
  • Offers value without bloat.

Cons

  • Some automations could be easier to duplicate without loss of data.
  • Views could be sharable and deleted more easily.
  • Kanban views should be more customizable in appearance, size, fields, density of data.
  • Increased communications across leadership and upper management.
  • Decreased the time it takes to hire new employees by increasing communication and organizing feedback effectively.
Airtable is quite accessible. Most users at our company can come in and pick it up quickly. The features are thoughtful and well-integrated. It has a robust data-driven focus and a good UI that shows data in an accessible way. While the end product is fantastic, creating the databases and forms can be challenging if you don't know what you are doing. Airtable tries to make it straightforward with templates and examples, but I have struggled several times to find the right solution. Ultimately, I have succeeded, but I wish it had been easier to get to the finish line at times with formulas or forms.
Airtable is as powerful, if not more than these competitors. It has a simple interface like Asana or Trello but has robust data functions and tracking of Jira or ShotGrid (now called Flow). While I haven't found it as profoundly integrated as Jira, Airtable feels much more nimble and flexible, allowing my team to try new solutions and pivot - simultaneously, do deep data tracking and project management.

Do you think Airtable delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Airtable's feature set?

Yes

Did Airtable live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Airtable go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Airtable again?

Yes

If you are a small to medium-sized company and want to track a project with your team but don't want the bloat of large and convoluted software like Jira, Airtable is a great fit. It presents the core features with simplicity. Access to the data is also easy to see and sort. Airtable isn't for everyone. If you are set in your ways and don't want to try something that is simple and customizable but would instead stick with bloated software that can't pivot quickly, stay away from Airtable.
