Overall Satisfaction with Patriot Software

Full Payroll for employees and 1099 contractors.

Pros

  • Rapid entry of standardized payroll in 3 easy screens
  • Easy entry of 1099 contractor payments
  • Friendly intuitive web based solution
  • Helpful and knowledgable customer support
  • Feature Rich, does most basic functions
  • Good payroll and 1099 contractor report generation

Cons

  • Does not support 401K plan integration as well as other vendors
  • Will not pay other vendors that are deductions from payroll like 401K vendor
  • Patriot is cost effective at the full payroll and partial payroll levels. I have used both
Quickbooks is more expensive and not as easy

Its easy and intuitive with support that is really good, but rarely needed.
In 3 years I have needed support maybe 3 times and it has been unusual situations that I felt was appropriate to reach out for help and they were ready with answers.
I think Patriot works best for companies that need cost-effective, self-managed, and fairly vanilla payroll needs. There are solution providers out there that have more full-featured offerings and higher prices, but this has met my needs as I was the only employee, then it still works as I have grown to five 1099 and two employees, but in time I may outgrow it.
