Ferrol´s estuary is shaped like a sea sword whose hilt would be the castles of San Felipe and A Palma. Then, the long blade extends all the way to Neda, at the mouth of the Xuvia river. With a naval past, the estuary of Ferrol was always a sword held high.

Ferrol is military power and urban elegance, like the Magdalena quarter, Europe's first to be designed following the Enlightenment's rationalist criteria. Or the Dockyards, also from the 18th century, and which are home to the Naval Museum.

Today however, after visiting Ferrol, the British prefer to stroll along A Graña, Fene, Neda. or cross the estuary by boat to Mugardos to taste its famous octopus. It is better than to risk passing by the castle of San Felipe.
