International NGO Law and Policy Project (INLPP)
Information about the project
The International NGO Law and Policy Project (INLPP) supports NGOs and nonprofits worldwide by offering free legal, policy, research, and advocacy support. It’s part of ZHAW’s Department of Business Law and is run by students under the guidance of Director Nyasa Steger.
This experiential learning course gives students hands-on experience, helping them apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. Through their work, students develop critical skills like cross-cultural teamwork, problem-solving, and innovative thinking while making a real impact and preparing for future careers.
Hands-On Learning with Global NGOs
The INLPP enables students to work directly with NGOs to address real-world issues in areas such as human rights, migration law, sustainable development, legal access, and restorative justice. Students gain practical skills and professional insights that prepare them for successful careers in law, business, and the nonprofit sectors.
Projects with Real Impact
NGOs receive valuable support, including:
- Customized policy strategies and detailed research.
- Development of creative campaigns and advocacy tools.
- Help with building stronger organizational systems.
- Support in expanding networks for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Student Testimonials
"I initially joined INLPP to gain legal research skills, but I left with so much more. The practical experience with NGOs exposed me to the challenges they face with limited resources, and it strengthened my belief in the importance of this work. I now see NGO work as a meaningful path for my future."
Aïcha Janine Fatam
"The real-world aspect of the INLPP program was invaluable. I developed time management skills by balancing projects for three clients, and I enjoyed learning about sustainable development through our work. The supportive guidance from our supervisor made all the difference in helping us meet our goals."
