On December 5, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei gave an exclusive interview with Al-Sabah TV’s “Ambassador Dialogues” in which he talked about China-Kuwait relations and international and regional hotspots.

Ambassador Zhang said that under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and Amir Sheikh Meshal, China and Kuwait have made constant efforts over the recent years to enhance the synergy between China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Kuwait Vision 2035, achieving good progress and fruitful results in bilateral cooperation in various fields. China stands ready to work with the Kuwaiti side to implement the important common understandings between the two heads of state and deepen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.

Ambassador Zhang stressed that China always acts as a builder of peace, a promoter of stability and a contributor to development in the Middle East, when talking about regional issues. China firmly supports Palestine’s just cause and supports the efforts by countries in the Gulf region to resolve differences through dialogue and consultation and pursue good neighborliness. China will continue to play an active and constructive role on promoting regional peace and stability.

Ambassador Zhang also elaborated on China’s position on China-U.S. relationship, the Taiwan question, the South China Sea issue and others.
