Hearings
A committee is permitted to organise a hearing with experts, where this is considered essential to its work on a particular subject. Hearings can also be held jointly by two or more committees. Most committees organise regular hearings, as they allow them to hear from experts and hold discussions on the key issues. On 13 January 2025, from 16:00 to 17:15, the FISC Subcommittee will host a public hearing on the impact of taxation on gender equality in the European Union. The hearing is organized in the context of the European Parliament’s Gender Equality Week 2024, which took place from 2 to 5 December 2025.
On Thursday, 12 December 2024, the FEMM Committee will hold a hearing on “Securing Gender Equality and Women’s Rights in the Digital Sphere”.
On Thursday, 5 December 2024, the Committee on Fisheries hold a public hearing entitled “How scientific advice is developed for EU Fisheries Policy decisions". This public hearing aims to get a closer insight at how the collection, evaluation and assessment of fisheries data is organised and how the scientific advice leads to political decisions on EU fisheries management, in particular regarding the establishment of fishing opportunities and technical measures.

On 3 December 2024, from 15:30 to 16:45, the FISC Subcommittee will host a public hearing on 'National Tax Measures to Support People with Disabilities in the EU'. It is organized in the context of the European Parliament’s Disability Rights Week 2024.
On Tuesday, 3 December 2024, between 14:30 and 16:30, INTA will organise a public hearing on “The Draghi report: competitiveness and economic security from a trade angle”. Speakers from the academia and representing workers and industry organisations will weigh in on how EU trade policy should contribute to the objectives set out in the Draghi report.
On Thursday, 21 November 2024, the EMPL committee held a hearing on loneliness in the European Union. The Subcommittee on Public Health, SANT, was also involved in this hearing. The purpose of this hearing was to present and discuss the findings of the EMPL Pilot Project on 'Loneliness in the European Union.'
