In 2023, there were 61,000 nonprofit organisations in Hungary, whose number has not changed significantly compared to 2022. As in previous years, the activities of foundations were mostly related to education, social services and culture, while the share of nonprofit associations was the highest among social nonprofit organisations, such as leisure and sports associations and cultural organisations. The sector's weight in the national economy was 4.5%, based on the average of GDP-proportionate revenue and the proportion of employed persons.

About 16 thousand works (books and brochures) have been published in 2023, the number of issues came close to 37 million. Every third volume was written by a foreign author. In case of cinemas, the number of those with one auditorium decreased, the larger ones and open-air cinema numbers grew in five years. The number of seats tend to concentrate in the 8 or more auditorium multiplexes; these represented 34% in 2019 and by 2023 gave 41% of the total capacity of cinemas in Hungary.

In regard to telecommunication services close to HUF 338 billion revenue has been realised at service providers in the 3rd quarter of 2024, 58% of this coming from mobile voice and mobile internet services. The average time for fixed line calls stable (nearly 6 minutes), while mobile calls increased by 2.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The number of fixed-line internet services subscriptions surpassed by 2.1% the one year earlier data in the 3rd quarter of 2024, due to the 8.1% increase of the optical segment. Packages offering at least 500 Mbit/s download speed reached 22% of all subscriptions. Fixed-line internet download traffic was 3,9%, mobile data traffic 21% higher than in the same period of 2023.

Compared with the previous month, asking rents fell by 0.6% nationally and by 1.1% in the capital in November 2024. The nominal rent index in November was 110% higher than the base in 2015 nationally, 100% higher in the capital, and 26% and 21% higher in real terms. Over a year, nominal rents increased by around 8% and real rents by around 4%.

Global external trade in goods lagged, both in value and volume, behind the one year earlier level in 2023, last time a similar setback occurred in 2020. In contrast, the value of the global services turnover slightly surpassed the previous year’s value, at the same time its growth pace was more subdued than in the previous two years. Countries from Asia played the most significant role in the external trade in goods, the bulk of the global services turnover, however, was connected to Europe.
